Every stage of a child's development is important. All of our programs are student-focused and are framed by their age, gender, and capacity.

INDIVIDUALITY
Because students progress differently, they are closely monitored by our outstanding professional staff in a caring and supportive environment.

The Horizon Program (for highly able learners) offers enrichment and extension through external national and state academic competitions. Students with particular learning needs are identified and have appropriate programs designed for them in consultation with parents and our educational support staff.

HEALTHY HEARTS
Tintern delivers a wide Physical Education and Sports Program. The range of sports is extensive with many sports from tennis, basketball, netball, cricket, and athletics to alpine skiing, football and fencing.

All students participate in House sports and have the opportunity to take part in inter-school sport. Professional coaching is provided within the school.

HEALTHY MINDS
Pastoral care is fundamental part of the unique Tintern experience.

Students enjoy a safe and supportive learning environment. They are nurtured by a homeroom teacher and a Year Level Coordinator (Middle School and Senior College), supported by a school chaplain and psychologists.

LEADERSHIP
Leadership programs are built around the school's motto "Factis Non Verbis" -- from the Latin meaning "Tis by deeds, not by words". Students are empowered to develop skills that not only build upon their strengths as an individual, but also to encourage those around them to make a positive contribution to the school and wider community.

Tintern is the only school in the outer eastern suburbs to offer students three different pathways.

VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (VCE) PROGRAM
The curriculum offered in the VCE program is broad and allows for individual passions and interests.

VCE -- VET PROGRAM
For a VCE curriculum to be genuinely comprehensive, it must cater for the needs of all students. The School provides an additional pathway within the VCE, our VCE --VET program.

Tintern is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and offers students the opportunity to undertake Certificate II and III level courses within their VCE studies. Completion of a VET program enables students to graduate with both a VCE Certificate (with an ENTER score) and a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training qualification.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) PROGRAM
As an alternative to the VCE or VCE-VET programs, students in Senior College can choose to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), which provides an international education -- emphasising intellectual, social and emotional skills required to succeed in today's global world.

The IB Diploma, taken over two-years, is not based on the elements of any one country but incorporates highly desirable elements of many.

Tintern Schools offers high quality, single-sex education for our Junior and Middle school boys and girls.

From 2010 a joint Senior College for boys and girls will be located on the Tintern campus. For students, it's the perfect balance; the best of both worlds.

Junior and Middle School boys and girls learn on separate campuses, where they are encouraged to develop independence, build self-confidence and self-awareness and strengthen their interpersonal skills.

Senior students benefit from a mixed learning environment and social experiences that will equip them for tertiary learning and their life beyond the school and the support of their teachers.

This new Senior College will be located in the Anderson Centre, with common facilities for Years 11 and 12 and separate learning spaces for Year 10 boys and girls.

This model has been operating less formally for the past decade for students undertaking the International Baccalaureate, VCE/VET studies and more recently the VCE.

Underpinning this exceptional curriculum is an outstanding pastoral care program that ensures that each student develops important life skills such as teamwork, compassion, global citizenship, cooperation, problem solving, optimism and work ethic.
