Parkwood Green Primary School opened in 2004 with 130 students.

Our school was officially opened by Hon Jacinta Allan MP.

Since that time, our school has grown rapidly, and much has been achieved.

Our curriculum has constantly expanded to now include specialist Art teachers, Health and Physical Education teachers, a qualified librarian, specialist music teacher, a full-time computer teacher and a host of support staff providing ESL, Language Support, Reading Recovery, and school based literacy and numeracy coaching etc.

An independent review was conducted of our school in 2007 by Mr Mike Rowland (National Curriculum Services) who gave a glowing report. In 2007 our new library was also opened by Senator Rod Kemp.

Our school achieved Performance & Development Culture Accreditation in 2008 with exceptionally high results.

Parkwood Green boasts a range of facilities that would rival most private schools.

Having won awards for innovative classroom design, the school comprises 16 air-conditioned permanent classrooms, an impressive library, a purpose-built music room, 2 computer rooms, 2 art rooms, a gymnasium, and relocatable classrooms.

High fences that provide security for the little children are a popular feature with parents.

During 20010, 6 new permanent classrooms will be constructed as part of a new and innovative learning technologies facility.


A new 6 laned 30 metre indoor heated swimming pool is also due for construction in the near future.

Our new state-of-the-art synthetic football oval, soccer field and running track complements the existing electronic score board, 2 synthetic cricket pitches and neighbouring synthetic tennis courts.

The 3 outdoor playgrounds will be bolstered by additional playgrounds shortly, and the learning garden/orchard that was built by the hard work of parents and students will continue to be a feature of the school.

Parkwood Green Primary School features an impressive range of specialist and support programs for your child.

Currently boasting 2 dedicated information technologies rooms and a new multi-million dollar technologies space under construction, Parkwood Green has facilities that are second to none in this area.

Two purpose-built art rooms supported by qualified art teachers provide high quality specialist art and craft lessons for all students.

Two qualified and highly skilled physical education teachers coordinate our successful interschool sports teams, provide weekly physical education lessons, and organise our sports program. Activities are based in our gymnasium, on our synthetic sports fields, on the neighbouring synthetic tennis courts, our asphalt courtyard and in the near future ..... in our new indoor swimming pool.

A qualified librarian and support staff provide regular library and literacy appreciation lessons in our modern and child friendly library, and a skilled professional musician provides musical instruction for all students.

In addition, ESL staff, Language Support staff, a speech therapist, our Bridges literacy and numercy team, Reading Recovery tutor and our literacy and numeracy coaches all provide essential targeted support for students at every level.

Transition from kindergarten to prep can be serious business for little children and their families, and is something we take very seriously at Parkwood Green.

As a result we dedicate considerable resources and time to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

An initial school tour with the family in term 2 or term 3 sets the scene for a friendly and welcoming experience.
Our promotional DVD, (available from our website) can be viewed at home to further familiarise your child with all Parkwood Green has to offer.
An information evening for enrolled families late in term 3 provides all the information you need to know.
A four session transition program in term 4 gives children a chance to experience a variety of prep classes and prep teachers in the company of other kinder kids.

An orientation day in December allows children the chance to meet their future prep teacher, see who else is in their future prep class, and spend time in their future prep room.
Feedback from parents indicate that this transition program is highly valued, and has proven very successful in settling their children into school.

1. Print and Complete an Enrolment Form, available from the school or download a PDF copy from this page.
2. Locate your child's birth certificate or passport to prove they turn 5 years of age on or before 30 April of the year they commence preps.
3. Locate your child's Immunisation History Statement that includes the statement 'This child has received all vaccines required by 5 years of age'. Statements can be obtained from any Medicare Office or by logging onto the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register at the Medicare website.
4. Bring all documents as outlined above to the school to enrol your child.
