Copperfield College is a school absolutely committed to providing the very best pathway for every student. Central to this is our strongly held belief that 'all students can learn' given the right conditions. My job is to find the right conditions for every student, continually build the capacity of every teacher to teach as well as they can and ensure that the College remains on a continuous improvement cycle.

Our structure is unique as we have grown from one original school. We now have two junior campuses at Kings Park and Sydenham for years 7 - 10 students and a VCE/VCAL campus at Delahey for year 11 & 12 students. I am convinced that this environment is best for the learning development of adolescents and for young adults.



Junior Campuses are based on small teams for years 7 & 8 and 9 & 10. This enables the teacher to know the learning needs of each student very well and ensures that student connection to the school is made and maintained. The teams continue at Delahey, however in the young adult learning environment our students blossom into confident and articulate people, ready to take their part in the world.

Our mantra 'Three homes, one family' is used as a metaphor to describe the way we think about our school. It is one school with three campuses. There is a family vision, family plans for improvement and everyone who interacts with us is part of the family - students, parent and staff.

Our improvement journey is exciting and bearing public fruit in the form of outstanding VCE results. We have also been awarded a National Curriculum Innovation prize for our work on improving VCE and the Culture of the Delahey Campus.

Years eleven and twelve students at Delahey enjoy a superbly resourced environment purpose built for the education of young adults. Academic rigour, initiative and self discipline are key tenets senior school life. The college is proud of its hard-working students. Many achieve outstanding results, gain entry into their chosen University or TAFE institution and go on to pursue future careers with distinction.

Specialist staff dedicated to senior success work together with students in a young adult learning environment. Students are able to access extended library hours and computer and multi-media resources are available to all students.
Support courses for students' personal health and well being address a range of social and educational issues. A Supportive Friends Program and a pastoral care system support the learning of senior students.

V.C.E

At Copperfield College we provide a wide range of V.C.E. studies and a challenging and innovative curriculum. An extensive and broadly based program of academic studies embraces all eight key learning areas. Students utilise the latest computer software and hardware which equips them with the technology skills needed to fully participate in a new information age.

The comprehensive curriculum encompasses a broad range of V.C.E. and V.E.T. studies.

Year 10 students are able to begin V.C.E. and V.E.T. studies to maximise their post school options.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

VET in the VCE programs at Copperfield College are designed to provide a more vocational VCE, to expand opportunities for senior students, to link schools to industry and training providers, to help meet the needs of our local and global industries and to prepare our students for the workplace of the future.

At Copperfield College, this is achieved through the provision of nationally recognised training qualifications integrated into the VCE. VET programs which our students are enrolled in this year are in the main delivered at Copperfield College utilising our own personnel and infrastrucure, but in some cases we have formed partnerships with other schools as well as Box Hill TAFE.

Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

Copperfield College is a Registered Training Organisation in the area of Automotive Studies, Electronics, Hospitality and Information Technology and because of this, has the capacity to work like a self contained 'TAFE' institute.

The College was granted it's submission to operate in this manner by the Office Of Post Compulsory Education, Training and Employment because it was able to demonstrate provision of quality facilities/equipment, resources and personnel. For the College, it means a greater say in the delivery of it's curriculum and a more autonomous administrative framework. As far as the student is concerned, it means that most of the Certificate courses can be undertaken in familiar surroundings at the Delahey campus with predominantly resident staff.

To be able to enrol at Copperfield College the following things are important:

-Where the applicant lives.
-Contact with previous school.
-The age of the applicant.
-All students wishing to enrol, with the exception of new students into Year 7 at the start of a year, will be interviewed. A parent or guardian must be present. Copies of reports from the previous school are required.
