Baden Powell College is a Prep to year 9 multi-campus environment offering a large range of academic programs and opportunities to students. Baden Powell College is a well resourced and technology rich environment driven by a committed staff.

Baden Powell College has two campuses Derrimut Heath PS , Prep to Year 6 and Tarneit Prep-Year 9 campus.

Derrimut Heath Primary School opened in 1992 and is located 30 kilometres west of the GPO in Hoppers Crossing. Current enrolment is over 500 students from Prep to Year 6. In 2008 a new campus of Derrimut Heath Primary School, Tarneit campus, opened to cater for students from Prep to Year 9 and is located at Baden Powell Drive, Tarneit.

To reflect our status as a two campus school we saw the formation of Baden Powell College. The college is named after Harold Llewellyn Baden Powell who had the ultimate respect for family values and education, as well as a wonderful commitment to his community.

Our college community values education and shares a common vision of the future 'Looking Forward, Staying Ahead'. It is committed to providing students with the skills, knowledge and values necessary to be effective members and leaders of our society. Our mission is 'Educating our community through the provision of leading edge educational services, products and practices'.

Dynamic leadership, and a team of dedicated and innovative staff, facilitates a balanced curriculum. Teachers provide a rich, student centred, integrated curriculum with daily programs dedicated to literacy and numeracy development and weekly programs in The Arts, PE. LOTE (Italian) and Information Literacy.

The special learning needs of many students are catered for with a highly effective and efficient Program for Student with Disabilities, as well as Reading Recovery, Language Support, a Multicultural Aide, Bridging the Gap, Bridges, a Speech Specialist and Individual Learning Plans.

Our focus at all times is on the total development of each student with positive reinforcement and celebration of their successes. We believe that children progress through developmental learning stages when certain conditions of learning and basic needs are met. In the Learning Environment children will be engaged and immersed in a range of meaningful experiences guaranteed to facilitate ongoing educational development.

At our college students are provided with a range of opportunities where they can develop and practise leadership skills within and beyond the school campus. Some roles undertaken by students include: School Captains and Vice-Captains, Student Councilors, Peer Mediators, Mentors In Computer Education (MICE), Buddy Programs, Young Leaders Conference. Our student centred curriculum ensures all students have opportunities to achieve their personal best.

There has also been a commitment to empower the whole school community to access, effectively utilise and embrace ICT.

The college sets high expectations for all of its community including teachers, students and parents. These are achieved through open communication and clear understanding of roles by all parties. They are also reflected in our code of conduct supporting our goal for our school to be a happy, safe environment for all students.

The community supports the development of a positive image throughout the wider community. Parent involvement is reflected in classroom programs, curriculum resourcing, active involvement in school council, committees, parent club activities and acceptance of responsibility in grounds and building maintenance.

The college provides Out of Hours School care to support parents, as well as Early Years Training, Information Evenings, parent teacher interviews and informative newsletters to assist in the development of the community school concept. Compulsory school uniform is required at Baden Powell College.

Our student Junior School Council meets with senior staff members regularly. School Council meets every third Tuesday of each month. Parents and Friends meet on the second Tuesday of each month.

Our college is very proud of its practical, functional buildings and well-maintained grounds. It is also an active member of the local community of schools in the Wyndham network with several members of staff leading curriculum networks.
